NUTA resumes stir :

Kathmandu: Nepal University Teachers’ Association (NUTA) on Thursday continued its relay hunger strike in front of the NUTA central office at Ghantaghar. The association has been demanding that the government meet its 10-point demands. The teachers had resumed their protest on August 27 after the government did not meet their demands after they withdrew stir on July 29. —HNS

Relief for flood-hit :

KATHMANDU: Five lakh rupees collected by the Mid-Western Division Headquarters of the Nepali Army has been handed over to the flood-hit people of Banke and Bardia districts through Nepal Red Cross Society. Out of the collected amount, 60 per cent was provided to Banke and the rest to Bardiya district. The amount was handed over to the Red Cross Society by the head of the division Maj Gen Chhatra Man Singh Gurung. — RSS
