KATHMANDU: Turkey has increased the number of scholarships to Nepali students from four to six at the insistence of Mohan Gopal Khetan, the honorary Consul General of Turkey
to Nepal. This was conveyed to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister KP Sharma Oli by the visiting Ambassador of Turkey, Halil Alkinci. The ambassador also met Speaker Subhash Nemwang CPN-UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal and Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Pradip Gyawali, a statement issued on Tuesday said. — HNS

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Police Office, Hanumandhoka, has recommended suitable department action against Sub Inspector Chhabilal Gharti, who posted in the Special Task Force of the Police Headquarters, Naxal, for hooliganism. The district police office said Gharti was found drunk while on duty and also vandalised four taxis at Gongabu, on Monday night. KDPO arrested Gharti on Tuesday morning and wrote to the Police Headquarters recommending “appropriate” action against him. — HNS
