Cops to be grilled

KATHMANDU: The High-Level Commission on Monday summoned 16 police officials, including Superintendents of Police Surendra Bahadur Shah, Dhananda Bhatta, Tula Bahadur KC and Rajan Bahadur Bista, DSPs Basanta Lama, Manoj Neupane and Thule Rai, who have been charged with suppressing people during the Jana Andolan, spokesperson for the commission, Dilli Raman Acharya, said, adding the officials were told to come to the commission for interrogation on Tuesday. — HNS

NHCA formed

BHAKTAPUR: A 16-member National Housing Cooperatives Association (NHCA) has been constituted under the convenorship of leading cooperative campaigner and Ex- Minister of State for Home Deepak Prakash Banskota. The association was constituted by a gathering of cooperative forerunners. Banskota said the national housing programme is indispensable for the low level employees and workers and the general public. — RSS

Paper on Kamaiyas

KATHMANDU: Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Land Reforms and Management Narayan Gopal Malego presented a working paper on the policy arrangements on the efforts to rehabilitate the freed Kamaiyas and the ways of its resolution before the meeting of the Foreign Affairs and Human Rights Committee under the HoR. In the Sub-committee meeting to be held on Tuesday, discussion will be held with the NHRC and other human rights organizations. — RSS
