SWC office opens
Kathmandu: State minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare on Tuesday reopened the Social Welfare Council after 15 days following the strike called by the SWC employees against the reappointment of Dr Prabha Basnet as member secretary of the SWC. State minister Aryal, Members of Parliament, Pradeep Kumar Nepal, Ram Bahadur Gurung, Ram Chandra Adhikary, Hari Bhakta Adhikary and president of Employees Association, Prakash Bhatt were present at the opening of the SWC. The cabinet on Monday reappointed Dr Ritu Prasad Gartaula as its member secretary. — HNS
Interim statute panel
KATHMANDU: The NGO Federation of Nepal has demanded to address the needs of disabled persons in the interim constitution. The federation has expressed its solidarity with the demand forwarded by the National Federation of Disabled. Meanwhile, the Tharu Welfare Council (TWC) has asked the government to include its representative in the Interim Constitution Drafting Committee. — HNS
Meet on biodiversity
Kathmandu: Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MoAC) Ganesh Kumar KC on Tuesday stressed on the need of sustainable agro-biodiversity while addressing a symposium on “In-Situ Conservation of Agricultural Biodiversity On-Farm: Good Practices and Lessons learned” jointly organised by the Nepal Agricultural Research Council, the Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research, and Development and International Plant Genetic Resources Institute. — HNS
