Minister bereaved

KATHMANDU: Minister of State for Women, Children and Social Welfare Urmila Aryal has been bereaved of her father. Her father Balaram Prasad Upadhyay Aryal, died at 83 at Norvic Hospital, on Friday morning. He was hit by a bicycle near his residence in Sripur-10 Birgunj and died while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu. Late Aryal is survived by his wife, four sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, CPN-UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal, Standing Committee and Central Committee Members of the party and Ministers went to the Norvic hospital and Pashupati Aryaghat to pay tribute to late Aryal. His funeral was held on Friday. — RSS

Chhinnalata awards

KATHMANDU: Raman Ghimire, Nhu Bajracharya, Sapana Shri and musician Ganesh Prasad Shrestha were were honoured with Chhinnalata Song Award in lyrics, music, vocal and special award respectively. They were honoured with letters of appreciation and cash prizes of Rs 20,000 each on Friday. — RSS

Indian SC’s order

KATHMANDU: President of the AIIMSonians - Nepal, Associate Prof Dr Sunil Chandra Jha, has welcomed the Delhi High Court stay order on Prof Venugopal’s dismissal on political grounds. In a statement issued on Saturday, he said it is an indication that justice will not be denied as he was dismissed for his firm stand on reservation policy of Government of India. — RSS
