EMS to Turkey
KATHMANDU: International Express Mail Service (EMS) is to be expanded to Turkey from April 1 as per the agreement reached between the Department of Postal Services. Letters and merchandise can be sent to Turkey from Nepal. There is now EMS link with 36 nations including Turkey. Arrangement has been made for registration and distribution of International EMS from Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Biratnagar, Pokhara, Bhairahawa, Dharan, Bhadrapur, Rajbiraj and Itahari. The Department intends to expand EMS to more nations. — RSS
Freshers welcomed
Lalitpur: Campion College on friday held a programme to welcome the second batch of masters level students. Director of the Fulbright Commission and chief guest Dr Peter Moran said much of the conflict in Nepal was based on ethnicity and diversity of cultures. Head of the Central department of Sociology at Tribhuvan University, Ram Bahadur Chhetri said that sociology focuses on institutions and social interaction whereas anthropology is the study of the multifaceted -dimensions of culture. The programme ended with a cultural show. — HNS
Chinese journos’ meet
KATHMANDU: The six Chinese journalists on a visit here, on Friday met Vice-Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Kirti Nidhi Bista, at Singha Durbar. Bista lauded the outlook of China towards Nepal, saying the traditional relationship between the two has always been harmonious. He added that the recent visit to Nepal by Chinese State Councillor Tang Jiaxuan and his remarks proved China’s positive feeling about Nepal. Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Sun Heping, was present on the occasion. — RSS

KATHMANDU: As commanded by King Gyanendra, the chief official of the Royal Palace Household, Sardar Sarada Prasad Pradhan, on Friday went to the Australian Embassy at Bansbari and conveyed best wishes to Australian Ambassador Graeme Lade on behalf of the King. — RSS
