KATHMANDU: A 251-member birthday main function committee was formed here on Wednesday under the chairmanship of social worker Laxmi Kumari Shrestha, to celebrate the 56th birthday of Queen Komal in a grand manner by conducting a weeklong programme. The committee has Babu Kaji Tuladhar as co-chairman, Ganga Devi Thapaliya as vice-chairman, Chakra Dev Joshi as general secretary and Anita Kharel as treasurer. Three management sub-committees have also been formed to celebrate the auspicious birthday in a grand manner. The programmes such as worshipping at various temples, clothes and food distribution to the orphans, lighting of 100,000 lamps, and illumination for three days are being held under the weeklong programme, it is learnt. — RSS

KATHMANDU: Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS), General Pyar Jung Thapa, on Wednesday cast his vote at Ward No 7 in Chabahil of Kathmandu metropolis, according to the Directorate of Public Relations (DPR) of the Royal Nepalese Army. — HNS
Water in short supply
BHAKTAPUR: There is a shortage of drinking water in Bhaktapur municipality owing to an extended spell of drought this winter. With a view to meeting the demand of local people for drinking water, the District Drinking Water Corporation has started to distribute water to the
people by mobilising tankers. Drinking water is made available to the residents of Itanchhe, Dughpati, Dattatraya, Taulanchhe, Bhawinche, Durbar Square and Suryamadhi of the district three times a week by means of tankers, according to the Section Officer of the Corporation Chandra Kanta Marahattha. — RSS
