Girl found dead

KATHMANDU:

An 18-year-old girl was found hanging from the ceiling of a toilet in a house in Bishalnagar, KMC-4, on Saturday, the police said. The deceased has been identified as Pema Chhamji Sherpa, a daughter of 43-year-old Nangbang Tenjing Sherpa. The Sherpa family, who hails from Solukhumbu, had been living in the house for five years. The police said that failed love may have caused the girl, who was studying in a high school, to commit suicide. — HNS

Students clean college

Kathmandu:

Students from the indigenous communities cleaned up the Bishwo Bhasa Campus premises amidst a function held at the college on Saturday. The president of the Bishwo Bhasa Campus unit of the FSU, Santosh Bhatta, urged the students to take their drive to schools. The Bishwo Bhasa Campus unit of the Indigenous Students’ Society had organised the function. — HNS

Stamp issued

KATHMANDU:

On the occasion of the 78th birthday of the Queen Mother and the 41st National Children’s Day, Information Minister Tanka Dhakal affixed cancellation mark on a commemorative stamp of the fruit series bearing the portrait of the Queen Mother. One million copies of the stamp with portrait of the Queen Mother and pictures of children and the Balmandir building in the background have been printed. — RSS
