Park inaugurated
Kathmandu: The vice chairman of the council of ministers, Kirti Nidhi Bista, and Army chief, Pyar Jung Thapa, inaugurated the Bhadrakali Shanti Uddyan on Tuesday. “Bhadrakali Tinkune has been named Bhadrakali Shanti Uddyan,” said a release issued at the inaugural function organised by Save the Environment Foundation. “For the past few years, this historical and religious place has been misused by people for conducting protests in an uncivilised manner. The organisation had received a letter by the Home Ministry to make it a restricted zone for protesters and had asked it to construct a park.” —HNS
Training book
Kathmandu: Tamu Bouddha Sewa Samiti (TBSS) has prepared a course book for Gurung language training and is set to commence training by the end of this month. TBSS today released the course book for final consultation among the Gurung linguists and experts during a consultative workshop. Linguists and the National Foundation for Development of Indigenous

TU results
KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan University has announced the results of Bachelors of Arts (BA) Social Work, first year, second semester; BA Social Work, second year, second semester and BA Social Work third year, second semester held under the School of Arts in June 2005. The results of Bachelors of Fine Arts, first year, second semester was also announced on Tuesday.

Workshop opened
KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Raj Parishad Standing Committee, Parsu Narayan Chaudhary, on Tuesday inaugurated a workshop titled ‘Faith on nationalism and democracy: Nepal’s monarchy’ organised to mark the King’s upcoming birthday. He called on countrymen to support the royal move. Describing the royal move as ‘courageous’ he observed that political parties should hold talks with the King and find a solution to the problems facing the nation. —RSS
NMC’s plan
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Marwadi Council (NMC) has decided to mark the King’s 59th birthday on by organising various programmes. The council will feed about 300 mendicants and the poor at local Gausala on July 6. Likewise, it is scheduled to offer felicitation on behalf of the Marwadi people to the King on July 7 and organise an illumination programme in the evening. On July 8, the council will hold a free health camp in Siraha and provide artificial legs to 17 impaired children. — RSS
Health camp for poor
KATHMANDU: “Prayas Nepal”, an NGO working for orphan and oppressed children, organised a free health camp at Mahadevsthan of Dhading recently for the children working in stone quarries and their family members. A total of 979 children aged between two months to 16 years had their health examined. — RSS
Art expo inaugurated
KATHMANDU: On the occasion of the 59th birthday of King Gyanendra, Princess Shobha inaugurated the National Art Exhibition organised by the Nepal Artists’ Society at the NAFA exhall on Tuesday. She observed the paintings and art on display at the exhibition and also gave away cash prizes and certificates to the winners of the competition. — RSS
