Focus on water crisis

LALITPUR: The Nepal Bhasa Manka Khala organised an interaction on ‘Sithi Nakha: Water Conservation Day and water crisis in Patan’, in Patan, on Friday. Speakers at the programme laid stress on the need to preserve traditional sources of water. Yadav dead

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Sadbhavana Party (Anandi Devi) on Friday expressed condolence over the death of the party’s Saptari district chairman and noted social worker Yogendra Prasad Yadav. Yadav died of cardiac arrest last night while undergoing treatment at the Birat Nurshing Home in Biratnagar. —HNS

Nominations to NPC

KATHMANDU: The government has nominated four individuals — Dr Bijaya Shrestha, Dr Rajendra Suwal, Champak Prasad Pokhael and Dr Ram Prasad Chaudhari — as members of the National Planning Commission (NPC), according to the commission secretariat. — RSS

Plea to revive House

KATHMANDU: Former prime minister and one of the founding leaders of the NC, Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, has called on the King to revive the House of Representatives as part of the solution to the current constitutional crisis facing the country. Man commits suicide

KATHMANDU: A 40-year-old man on Friday killed himself by slitting his throat. Laxman Thapa, resident of Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu, was found unconscious near Chudaldevi in the morning. “We rushed him to the Bir Hospital wher he responded to treatment and had regained consciousness, but later died,” a police official at the Kathmandu District Police Office, said. Police managed to take his statement in the hospital. — HNS
