One found murdered
KATHMANDU: One teenager was found murdered inside the cafeteria of Nepal Electricity Authority at Ratnapark, police said. Sukram Lama, 17, was found murdered on Tuesday inside the cafeteria. Police suspected the hand of Nabin Rai, a colleague in Lama’s office. Rai had allegedly hit Lama with an iron rod after they had a brief tiff on Monday. Rai, who hails from Dharan, is absconding after the incident. Five teenagers work at the cafeteria. — HNS
River fests to be held
KATHMANDU: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Sustainable Tourism Network (STN) have announced that they will promote and support the two-and-half-month-long series of event as part of River Festival 2005 festivities. The purpose is to raise awareness on environmental issues in the run up World Environment Day. The festival includes several activities and events like clean up campaigns, conservation and awareness programmes and other water sports events, it is said. — HNS
CEC, Kahane meet
KATHMANDU: Resident representative of the United Nations Mathew Kahane paid a courtesy call on Chief Election Commissioner Keshav Raj Rajbhandari at the Election Commission on Tuesday. Matters relating to various aspect of the forthcoming municipality elections were discussed during the meeting, according to the commission. — RSS
Water supply project
BHAKTAPUR: Construction of Giri Tol Drinking Water Project at Nagarkot VDC-1 has been completed at a cost of Rs 70,000 in total. Some 40 households of the village have benefited from the project, it is said. — RSS
Environment expo
KIRTIPUR: A two-day environment exhibition has been scheduled to kick off at the Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur, on May 25 under the joint auspices of the TU Central Department of Environment and the Environment Students’ Society. The exhibition, where more than 100 organisations working in the field of environment across the country will display their programmes, aims at promoting awareness and provide information about environment. — RSS
Tank inaugurated
KIRTIPUR: Rajparishad Standing Committee member Sachchit Shamsher JB Rana on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed drinking water tank and taps at Champadevi, Kirtipur amid a function held by Tamang Improvement Society, Kirtipur. The construction was completed at the cost of Rs 250,000. — RSS
