Int’l airport soon

KATHMANDU: An international airport will be constructed at Bhairahawa, near Lumbini, within the coming three years, said the Minster for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Buddhi Raj Bajracharya, on Saturday at a programme organised by Souvenir Nepal. He said the development of Lumbini would go at an uprecedented momentum and the place would be developed as a tourist centre of the country very soon. He also said that no monument in Kathmandu Valley will remain unpreserved in the coming five years. — HNS

2 held for minor’s rape

Kathmandu: Police arrested two persons on Friday on charge of raping a minor girl at Basundhara, Kathmandu. Ram Kumar Poudel and Udhdab Sapkota, 26, were arrested for raping a girl after taking her to their room. Poudel, a resident of Basundhara, and Sapkota, a resident of Gongabu, were arrested from their residences. During interrogation, the arrested two admitted that they persuaded the girl to come with them, police said. —HNS

Shop robbed

Kathmandu: Goods worth Rs 40,000 was stolen on Friday from the shop of Gopal Deuja at Baneshwor. Police said unidentified persons broke into the shop after it had shut for the day, and made away with Rs 7,000 in cash, one television set and other valuables. Investigation is on, said the police. —HNS

Health camp held

BHAKTAPUR: A one-day obstetrics and gynaecology health camp was organised in Bhaktapur on Saturday. Some 103 people underwent health examination in the camp organised by Dr Iwamura Memorial Hospital and Research Centre and the Khowpo Women Group. A team of doctors led by Dr Neelam Pradhan provided health services. — HNS
