AAA elects committee

KATHMANDU: A general meeting of the Association of Administrative Assistants (AAA) on Saturday elected its first executive committee under the chairmanship of Bandana Y Lepcha. Pranika Koyu is the vice-president, Pramila Sthapit the treasurer and Sunita Gurung the secretary of the seven-member committee. Mira Sharma, Jayaswor Shrestha and Bikram Kakchyapati have been elected members. The association was established last year to provide a networking and support base for the administrative assistants. — HNS

Health camp held

KATHMANDU : The Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd and the Kathmandu Chabahil Lions Club organised a free health camp at Lampokhari on Saturday. Some 500 people from benefited from the camp, a press statement issued on Saturday said. The patients were provided with pathological tests, dental services and free medicine in the camp. A team led by Dr B B Pant and Dr Prakash Budhathoki provided the services. — HNS

Girl dies

KATHMANDU: Somu Sherpa, 8, died on Saturday afternoon after she fell off the staircase of the house where her parents had rented a room at Besigaon, Jorpati-6. She died on the way to hospital. Sherpa family hails from Okhaldhunga. — HNS

Cleaning camp held

KATHMANDU: To mark the Earth Day 2005, National Environment Pollution Control Nepal today organized a cleaning programme at Fulchoki and the historic Naudhara area of Godavari. The volunteers of Explorer Nepal and the local Godavari Samaj Utthan Samuha were involved in the cleaning of the garbage. — HNS
