Bribe-taking lawyer held

KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority on Sunday arrested Kavreplanchowk district’s government attorney, Balram Sharma, while taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a client in a murder case. Seeking his favour not to register the case at the district court, a client was handing Sharma over the bribe when the CIAA arrested him, the commission said. — HNS

Folk dance competition

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Tamang Culture Ghedung on Saturday organised a Tamang folk dance competition. Nine cultural groups from the Valley districts and Kavre participated. While Madhurima Kala Kendra bagged the first prize, Siddhartha Kala Kendra of Jorpati bagged second and Padma Sagar Kala Kendra bagged third prize. — HNS

Locals supply water

Lalitpur: A local organisation, Alok Hiti Conservation and Drinking Water Committee, which has successfully been collecting water from stone spouts at Alok Hiti of Ward No 22 of Lalitpur and distributing it among Ikkachhen tole residents, is planning to distribute the water to Ward No 13. The committee collects water from three stone spouts during 6 to 11 pm in a reservoir and supplies it to Ikkachhen tole families. —HNS
