Woman found murdered

Kathmandu: A 27-year-old woman was found murdered in her rented room in the house of Jagannath Acharya at Lalitpur sub-metropolitan city-14 on Monday, the police said. The body of Jasuda Rai was found lying on the bed in the morning. “The deceased’s neck has wounds made by a rope,” inspector Lokendra Shrestha said, adding: “It seems that she was suffocated to death with a rope.”Rajendra, the husband of the deceased, has disappeared. Meanwhile, Sukalal Tamang was held on the charge of murdering his wife Shanti Tamang at Sanepa three months ago. —HNS

Two firms raided

KATHMANDU: The Revenue Investigation Department raided Pashupati Hardware and Pashupati Ply Store in New Baneshwor on Monday, the Royal Commission for Corruption Control (RCCC) said. The RCCC spokesperson, Prem Raj Karki, said the firms were raided on the charge of evading taxes. According to him, the RCCC has so far refunded about Rs 10 million from various business firms that had evaded taxes. — HNS

APF hospital

KATHMANDU: The Inspector General of the Armed Police Force (APF), Sahabir Thapa, laid the foundation stone for the construction of an APF hospital at the APF headquarters on Monday. The four-storey, 75-bed hospital will cover 71 ropanis of land. — HNS

Monitors inspect offices

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Monitoring Committee made an inspection at the offices

of Land Revenue and Survey in Kalanki on Sunday, and urged its staff to serve the people promptly. Earlier, the team had visited the Land Revenue Office, Dillibazaar, Survey branch and the Nepal Water Supply Corporation, Tripureshwor.— RSS

Review of decision sought

KATHMANDU: The Mahendra Sanskrit University Teachers’ Association has called for an immediate withdrawal of the decision to completely vacate the Teendhara Sanskrit Hostel. It has also requested that the problem be resolved through mutual cooperation and dialogue. — RSS
