Sherpa youths form body

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Sherpa youths living in the Valley formed a 17-member Nepal Sherpa Youth Association under the chairmanship of Ngwang Sonam Sherpa on Sunday. “The Association has been formed with an aim to preserving, and promoting the language, art and culture of the Sherpa community,” states a release issued on Tuesday. Hem Sherpa and Aang Dendi Sherpa are the first and the second vice-president respectively. While Namgel Lama is general secretary, Domi Chhiring Sherpa is secretary and Mingma Sherpa is the treasurer. Ten others have been elected members of the body. — HNS

Education project

BHAKTAPUR: A five-year district education project construction group has been founded with a view to developing the education in Bhaktapur district. A 21-member district education project advisory committee comprising officials, educationists and representatives of various government and non-government organisations has been ocnstituted for making the education project successful. The programme begins from the current fiscal year 2004/05. — RSS
