Blood donation camp

KATHMANDU: Maiti Nepal organised a blood donation programme to mark its 12th anniversary, according to a statement issued here. The programme was supported by the Nepal Red Cross Society. Students of Nursing Campus Teaching Hospital, employess of hotel, restaurants and, teachers from Mahendra Bhawan School, employees of Maiti Nepal donated blood. — HNS

TU service panel chief

KATHMANDU: King Gyanendra has, in his capacity as Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, constituted a panel under the chairmanship of the varsity’s vice-chancellor and minister for education and sports, Radha Krishna Mainali, to recommend a name for the post of chairperson of the TU Service Commission, according to notice issued on Friday by the Royal press secretariat. — RSS

Indian aid to Nepal

KATHMANDU: The government of India has sanctioned assistance of Rs 28.986 million for the construction of a multi-purpose auditorium for Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, Kavre. A MoU to this effect was signed on Thursday among the embassy of India, Dhulikhel municipality and Kathmandu University. The proposed auditorium will enhance academic and cultural environment at Kathmandu University. — RSS

Speaker in Manila

KATHMANDU: Speaker Taranath Ranabhat left here on Friday for Manila, Philippines, at the head of a Nepali delegation to the 112th conference of the Inter-parliamentary Union to be held there from April 3 to 8. — RSS
