India to continue support to Nepal

Kathmandu, January 26:

Indian ambassador to Nepal, Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, today assured of India’s continued assistance and support to Nepal’s peace process, including the April 10 CA election.

India today gifted 30 ambulances, 12 trolley-mounted 40 KVA portable diesel generators and 14 sets of books to different Nepali organisations on the occasion of India’s 59th Republic Day.

Indian ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shankar Mukherjee presented the ambulances to 27 recipients and generators to nine organisations during the flag hoisting ceremony at the Indian Embassy in Lainchour.

India has already gifted 169 ambulances to different Nepali organisations for contributing to health care and emergency services, a release of the Embassy said today, adding that the generators presented today would help ensure power supply to various organisations, including hospitals, for which uninterrupted power supply is essential.

Mukherjee assured India’s continued assistance and support to Nepal’s peace process, including the polls.

Asked about the reported border dispute, Mukherjee said most of the issues have been settled and added that the rest of the issues would be addressed through mutual understanding.

He also stressed on talks to resolve the ongoing agitation in several districts of Tarai and ruled out India’s role in the disturbances there. “Nepalis are capable of resolving the crisis in Tarai,” he added.
