I/NGOs’ efforts ‘futile’

KATHMANDU; Despite the involvement of various organisations in mitigating natural disaster, nothing significant has been achieved, said stakeholders.

“The NGOs and INGOs simply contemplate in seminars and press conferences but don’t act in the field. The affected people don’t get relief in real sense while they are in trouble,” said Ramchandra Neupane, chief, ECO-Nepal, while speaking at a programme on People’s Caravan on Disaster Risk Reduction. The programme was organised by National Network of Disaster Affected Community.

According to the data of Ministry of Home Affairs, around 1,000 people die to the nature’s fury every year. About 97 pc people in Nepal are prone to natural disaster.
