KATHMANDU: Continuing the global campaign of recognising public servants in Nepal, the Accountability Lab has announced names of five persons as finalists of the Integrity Idol 2016.
They are Tara Subedi, Health Assistant of Mainabudhuk Health Post in Dhankuta; Bindu Kunwar, Women’s Development Inspector in Jumla; Bhisma Kumar Bhusal, Under Secretary in National Reconstruction Authority; Dor Bikram Shrees, Principal of Siddhababa Higher Secondary School in Gulmi; and Krishna P Dhanchha, principal of Bageshwari Higher Secondary School in Bhaktapur.
The finalists were selected by a panel of judges after a seven-phase selection process. The selection had begun with around 900 nominations.
The organiser has members of the public to cast their votes among the finalists. Information about the candidates would be made on air via radio and television channels.
Voting lines are now open and would close on December 31, 2016. One can vote for them through the SMS (IIN
to 34001) or online as well.
The winner would be announced amidst a national ceremony at 3:30 pm on January 5, 2017.
The campaign had started with an aim to showcase the 'importance of honesty and personal responsibility', according to the organiser.
Gyan Mani Nepal, the then Panchthar District Education Officer, and Pradip Kanel, the then Gulmi Chief District Officer, had bagged the title in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
