International Day of Persons with Disabilities marked
KATHMANDU: A morning procession was organised in the Capital today to mark the 25th International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The rally that had begun from Bhrikutimandap passed through Padmodaya School, Putalisadak and converged into a corner meet upon reaching back to the starting point.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Health Gagan Kumar Thapa expressed his commitment to take the necessary initiatives to have an act relating to disability passed from the Parliament to ensure the rights of the persons with disabilities. He also disclosed that a committee would soon be formed to study the contribution to be made on behalf of the Health Ministry in the disability sector.

President of National Federation of the Disabled-Nepal Sudarshan Subedi emphasised the need for effective enforcement of the Supreme Court verdict in favour of persons with disabilities. The national census 2011 has stated that the total population of persons with disability in the country stands
