Investigate wide-body aircraft purchase: NC Spokesperson

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma has stated that the meeting of the party’s central working committee has included ‘corruption’ as one of the issues of the nationwide demonstrations being staged on February 4.

At a press meet organised today to brief the media on party's upcoming programmes, Sharma reiterated that NC has taken the issue of scam of billions of rupees in wide-body aircraft purchase in the parliament as well as to the public. "The issue must be investigated at any cost," said the NC spokesperson.

It is to be noted that recently, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba's name had surfaced in connection to the scam in wide-body aircraft purchase.

At the press meet, Sharma also questioned the government's motive behind passing the Budhi Gandaki Multi-purpose Hydroelectricity Project to a foreign company without a call for competitive bidding while also questioning the delay in the construction of the Nijgadh international airport project. "These issues will be raised during our upcoming protests," Sharma added.
