ISTU-Nepal threatens stir

KATHMANDU: Institutional School Teachers’ Union-Nepal (ISTU- Nepal) has threatened to launch an agitation from the beginning of 2067 if the government failed to implement the past agreements within the set deadline of 2066 BS.

Mukunda Gautam, president of ISTU- Nepal, said their team led by himself had met state minister for Education, Govinda Chaudhary on February 3 and forwarded their demands with the ultimatum to education minister Ram Chandra Kushbaha.

He said, “We have also served a two-month-long ultimatum, along with a 14-point demands to the minister.”

“If the government remained mum to fulfill our demands within the current academic year, we’ll launch strong protest programmes- ranging from relay hunger strike, fast-unto-death to educational strike- since the beginning of Nepali New Year 2067,” he added.

They also demand for the formation of school management committee as per the rules and management of scientific teaching license.
