IT body short of staffers

KATHMANDU: Office of the Controller of Certification under Ministry of nvironment, Science and Technology has been facing staff shortage since its establishment seven months ago.

The OCC has vacancies for 17 staffers, including technical and administrative, but only the controller, an accountant and a driver have so far been appointed.

The certification controller’s office was set up as envisaged by Electronic Transaction

Act-2006.

“I am the single appointee in the Information Technology body,” said controller Rajan Raj Pant. “Recently an accountant was appointed.”

According to Pant, the certification controllers’ office should have nine technicians, five administrative personnel, including supporting staff such as drivers.

“Public Service Commission is still working to recruit personnel in the body,” the controller said.

“We are installing equipment for the office system,” he said.

“We plan to establish an Information Technology park in the country investing Rs 400 million,” Pant added.
