ITEC Day marked

KATHMANDU: Embassy of India on Tuesday organised a joint celebration of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Day as well as Maulana Azad Day at Hotel Radisson.

Minister for Education Giriraj Mani Pokharel attended the function as the chief guest. Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation was launched in 1964 as a bilateral assistance programme of the Indian government, under which 12 Nepalis Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation participants went to India in 2000.

Over the years, the number of seats allocated to Nepal under ITEC/Colombo plan programme, has increased from 12 in 2000 to 250 in 2015.

According to a statement issued by the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, around 1000 participants from Nepal have so far benefited from this cooperation project.
