Japanese aid to Damak hospital

 KATHMANDU: The Government of Japan has decided to extend a financial assistance of US Dollar 88,386 (equivalent to approximately Rs 9.35 million) to the AMDA Hospital of Damak in Jhapa district.

According to a press statement issued by the Kathmandu-based Japanese Embassy, the financial assistance is a part of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme of the Government of Japan in Japan's Fiscal Year 2015.

The statement further reads the agreement for the assistance would be signed and exchanged on Friday at the Embassy of Japan.

The hospital is providing services to Bhutanese refugees and local people in the Eastern Region for the past 25 years.

The assistance will be utilised to construction of the ICU building and installation of medical equipment in the ICU, according to the Embassy.
