JICA team inspects sites of Japan-aided projects

Kathmandu, February 25:

On the occasion of golden jubilee of the establishment of Nepal-Japan diplomatic relations, a team of JICA Alumni Association of Nepal (JAAN) made an inspection visit to the sites of different development projects run in Nepal with the assistance of the Japanese Government and JICA.

The team visited the Clean Kathmandu Valley Project run by JICA for the effective management of garbage of the capital, the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj and an electricity sub-station located at Maharajgunj, and acquired information on the activities there.

Various programmes have been launched for the management of garbage in Kathmandu Valley by 2015.

JICA has provided 21 vehicles for transporting the garbage, besides 18 containers and other material necessary for the proper management of domestic refuse under the Project.

The gradual management of garbage in all five cities of the Kathmandu Valley is the main objective of the Project, Deputy Residential Representative of JICA, Fukuda Yoshio, said.
