Journos on sit-in for reinstatement

Kathmandu, May 7 :

A group of journalists staged a sit-in at Maitighar today demanding the re-appointment of all media persons who lost their jobs for political reasons during the three-and-a-half-year long autocratic rule of King Gyanendra.

According to the organisers, the Nepal Press Union (NPU), an estimated 900 journalists from all over the country bore the brunt of the political decisions of the previous government.

Addressing the event, NPU Chairman Murari Sharma said the union would continue its protest programmes all over the country. The union would start by asking the media houses in the capital to take back the media persons who were sacked.
