Judges’ team on study trip to Australia

Kathmandu, February 12:

A five-member team led by Supreme Court Justice Anup Raj Sharma today left for Australia for a 10-day visit to study the functioning of commercial bench in Australia and other countries.

SC assistant spokesperson Hemanta Rawal said Appellate Court judges Om Prakash Mishra and Tanka Moktan, SC spokesperson Til Prasad Shrestha and Butwal Appellate Court Registrar Dhiraj Bahadur Chand are the members of the team. The team is scheduled to visit Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong to study the functioning of commercial benches there. The World Bank is sponsoring the team’s visit.

Senior-most SC justice Min Bahdur Rayamajhi, however, cancelled his trip after his mother Bishnu Kumari Rayamajhi passed away today.

The visit comes at a time when the apex court is planning to set up commercial benches in different courts to settle commercial disputes.
