Judiciary faces crisis of confidence: CJ

KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Min Bahadur Rayamajhi on Thursday said the public had lost faith in the judiciary and expressed his commitment to bring reforms in the judicial sector.

Addressing a programme organised by the Judicial Officers' Society, he said, "The judiciary faces a crisis of confidence. It is therefore important that we shoulder the responsibility to make it more competent." He added that the judicial sector would fail to win hearts if those in the legal profession failed to perform their duties properly.

"I am committed to bringing judicial reforms," he added.

Stating that the SC faces the biggest challenge of satisfying people through fair verdicts, he directed judicial officials to facilitate common people's access to judicial remedies. "It is the duty of court officials to make judicial service accessible to all," he maintained.
