Justice sought for victims of conflict-era sexual violence

KATHMANDU: The government has been urged to create an atmosphere for victims of sexual violence to register their complaints, dating back to the country's decade-long conflict, with ease.

At a programme organised today to mark the International Day of Peace, Women Rehabilitation Centre Chair Dr Renu Adhikari Rajbhandari voiced for justice to the victims of sexual violence that took place during the conflict.

Meanwhile, other participants of the programme sought to establish identities of perpetrators through a fair probe and demanded them to book under the law.

Justice must to be served on time, they stressed.

The participants also demanded free-of-cost long-term psycho-social counselling and health services to the victims.

The programme was jointly organised by the Women Rehabilitation Centre, the National Alliance of Women Human Rights Defenders and the Women for Women Forum, Nepal.
