Police provisionally shut Kathmandu futsals

KATHMANDU: Police in Kathmandu ordered that all futsal courts in the district be closed till authorities develop some rules regarding their operation.

SP Bishwaraj Pokharel of the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu told THT Online that the decision was made as they were found operating without any code of conduct.

According to Pokharel, the futsal companies were found registered nowhere and they were randomly collecting money from their clients.

Some futsal courts have allowed youth to take illegal drugs and involve in unsocial activities, he added.

Neighbours of some futsal courts had filed complains with police that the players obstructed peace and order of the society, he claimed.

The courts would be allowed to resume their activities once the authorities prepare some sorts of rules and regulations regarding their operation, according to the police official.

It is estimated that there are nearly 100 futsal courts in Kathmandu.
