Kathmandu Valley logs 109 new coronavirus infections on Saturday

KATHMANDU: The three districts of Kathmandu valley reported 109 new cases of coronavirus infection on Saturday, of which 49 are females and 60 males.

This accounts for approximately 47% of the total new cases observed today.

Of the total 232 new cases in the country, Kathmandu district reported 80 infections while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur registered 20 and nine infections respectively.

Currently, there are 1,935 active infections in Kathmandu, 165 in Lalitpur, and 37 in Bhaktapur. The total number of active cases throughout Nepal, as of today, is 3,452.

So far, 491 fatalities from Covid-19 have been reported in Kathmandu, 114 in Bhaktapur, and 158 in Lalitpur. The nationwide death-toll has advanced to 1,994 with eight Covid-related fatalities logged today.

Meanwhile, a total of 98,238 people have recovered from the infection in Kathmandu, 15,581 in Lalitpur and 9,024 in Bhaktapur.

Kathmandu is the only district with over 500 active cases in the country. On the contrary, Kalikot, Rukum West and Mugu are the three districts with zero live infections, as of today.
