Kathmandu Valley logs 177 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday

KATHMANDU: The three districts of Kathmandu valley reported as many as 177 new cases of the coronavirus infection on Sunday.

This accounts for about 66.5% of the total 266 new infections recorded today.

Kathmandu alone recorded 145 new cases while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur registered 23 and nine cases, respectively.

Among the newly infected in the valley, 61 are females while 116 are males.

Currently, there are 2,264 active infections in Kathmandu, 216 in Lalitpur, and 56 in Bhaktapur. The total number of active cases throughout Nepal, as of today, is 3,919.

So far, 487 fatalities from Covid-19 have been reported in Kathmandu, 113 in Bhaktapur, and 156 in Lalitpur. The nationwide death-toll has advanced to 1,959 with five more Covid-related fatalities logged today.

Meanwhile, a total of 97,181 people have recovered from the infection in Kathmandu while 15,390 have recovered in Lalitpur and 8,935 in Bhaktapur.

Kathmandu is the only district with over 500 active cases in the country. On the contrary, Solukhumbu, Bhojpur, Nawalparasi West, Kalikot, Rukum West and Mugu are the six districts with zero live infections, as of today.
