Kidnap sparks traffic strike at Kalanki

Kathmandu, November 2:

Staffers of the Miteri Yatayat today blocked the vehicular movement at Kalanki throughout the day demanding release of Shekhar Guragain, the owner of the transport firm, who was allegedly kidnapped by an unidentified group last night.

The staffers of the firm placed their vehicles in the middle of the road and blocked the

vehicles going out and coming into the Valley.

The blockade started from early in the morning and continued till 4 pm, the police said.

According to the police, a group of unidentified persons last night kidnapped Guragain from Kalanki. They also beat up Rishi Bahadur Shrestha, a friend of Guragain.

The staffers of the Yatayat allowed vehicular movement only after the police and transport entrepreneurs assured them that they would take immediate initiatives to release Guragain.

The police suspected that transactional dispute behind the kidnapping. Guragain has just arrived from Jhapa yesterday when he was kidnapped.
