KMC begins sanitation drive
Kathmandu, June 2:
The Environment Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City today launched a sanitation drive to mark the World Environment Day on June 5.
Chief of the Environment Department, Rabin Man Shrestha, said a sanitation drive has begun at the wards including 1,3,5,7, 8,13 and 34 in the KMC in coordination with local clubs, organisations and member of the political parties with involvement of Community Police.
He said a tree plantation programme would be organised in the city on Monday. “We have launched awareness camps among the people and are trying to mobilize them to keep their areas neat and tidy,” he said.
Rallies are also being organised at different parts of the city to create awareness on the importance of the sanitation, he said.
Shrestha also said the KMC does not have special programme on the World Environment Day.
Meanwhile, the Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City (LSMC) today launched a week-long sanitation campaign with a theme ‘one broom, one person’ .
