Kathmandu, April 15:

The regular Kathmandu Metropolitan City board meeting could not take place today after the mayor, who is supposed to chair the meeting, did not show up for hours after the scheduled time.

The board members also expressed their dissatisfaction over the mayor’s interview televised yesterday in the Nepal Television through a programme sponsored by the KMC.

In the interview to the Nepal Mandal, the mayor criticised the KMC board decision to run city bus saying, “The proposal of the deputy mayor for running city bus was wrong and the board should not have approved it. I oppose the decision because it was taken in a meeting in which I did not participate.”

On the contrary, the chairman of the KMC ward number four Ratna Prasad Joshi, hinting at the increasing differences between the mayor and the deputy mayor, said, “The mayor is crossing the limit and showing kind of one man show in the KMC office. There can be some minor misunderstandings or disagreements but a mayor should not disobey the board decision.”

Meanwhile, the ward members were of the view that the mayor was insulting the KMC board and said that the mayor and the deputy mayor could have settled misunderstandings through dialogues than bringing things into the public through media.
