KATHMANDU: After his election to the post of mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Bidya Sundar Shakya has said that he would try to meet aspirations of voters.

Issuing a press release on Sunday afternoon after his victory, Shakya expressed the commitment to always be active to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of his position.

Extending gratitude to voters and supporters, he also thanked his party CPN-UML, party cadres, well wishers and Nepalis for their support to make him victorious to the post.

The statement also praises the role of the party leadership, leaders and cadres of various ethnic organisations, residents of Kathmandu Valley, industrialists, businesspersons and media-persons who worked day and night during the elections.

It lauds the role and responsibilities played by security personnel and government employees during the elections.
