KMC ordered to remove buildings

Kathmandu, October 3:

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) today directed the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) to remove all shops and terminal buildings constructed on the banks of Bishnumati River at New Buspark, Gongabu.

The CIAA has authorised the power to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City to remove the shops and terminal buildings build by the Lhotse Multipurpose Pvt Ltd.

According to a press statement issued by the CIAA, the Lhotse Multipurpose made an agreement with some business groups to build the shops and terminal buildings without getting permission from the KMC.

The anti-graft body also said that the company has been making illegal benefit from the shops and terminal buildings as it has made an agreement to lease commercial buildings for 45 years to the business groups.

The CIAA stated that the Lhotse Multipurpose had leased to build the shops and terminal buildings without signing an agreement. “After the CIAA started investigation, the Lhotse company payed Rs 5.3 million to the KMC,” it stated.
