Kathmandu, April 27:

The four different employees’ bodies of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) have said that they will disrupt the board’s emergency meeting scheduled for tomorrow.

According to Sarbagya Raj Poudel, acting president of the KMC unit of the Nepal Municipal Employees’ Association (NMEA), the employees including those of 14 different departments, all 34 wards and projects will gather on the KMC premises to disrupt the board meeting.

The employees have already padlocked major sections of the finance department of KMC so as “not to let sham representatives who do not have people’s mandate, misuse tax paid by the people.” Shiva Adhikary, section officer in the finance department, said the employees’ unions have padlocked the offices where cash and check transactions used to take place besides the rooms of the officers.

The employees’ bodies have again demanded the resignation of all the office-holders. Those demanding their resignation are the KMC Unit of NMEA, Nepal Transport Workers’ Association, Independent Cleaning Workers’ Union and Employees Welfare Fund.

Poudel said the peoples’ representatives had initiated action against the employees who supported the movement for democracy. He said the employees would not follow directions or take orders of the so-called people’s representatives. “The people’s representatives would be responsible for any difficult situation they may have to face,” the employees’ bodies said in a statement.

Sources said the tomorrow’s board meeting had been scheduled to discuss the changed political scenario and other issues.
