Korean aid for e-governance project
Kathmandu, September 19:
Nepal and Korea today signed a memorandum of understanding, paving the way for the construction of a Government Integrated Data and Training Centre (GIDTC).
As per the memorandum, the Korean government, through the Korean International Development Agency (KOICA), will provide $3.5 million for the construction of the centre.
Korean ambassador to Nepal Nam Sang-jung and joint-secretary at the Foreign Aid Coordination Division under the Ministry of Finance, Krishna Gyawali, signed a MoU to support the project. Though the e-governance master plan 2006 had prioritised this project, the construction had been deferred owing to lack of funds. Through this project, the KOICA aims to help build infrastructure for e-Governance in Nepal. The KOICA will also provide equipment and materials necessary for the operation of the data centre, among others.
