Local reps oriented on budget formulation, implementation

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development on Wednesday organised a training on formulation and implementation of budget targeting people's representatives of 34 districts elected through the first phase of local level elections.

The Ministry managed experts concerned to orient the local level representatives and government office chiefs on the processes of budget formulation and implementation following theĀ  allocation of national budget as per a new federal setup.

The participants of the training were given information about bases, means and resources for budget making, sources of income and sectors of priority for expenditure and other theoretical aspects so as to meet provisions for holding the municipal and rural assembly by coming July 9, informed Chief of Planning and Foreign Aid Co-ordination Division under the Ministry, Under-secretary Chiranjibi Timsina.

They were oriented on passing the budget before the commencement of the new fiscal year that starts from the first day of the month of Saun in Nepali month and implementing the budget from the very first day of the fiscal year, added Timsina.

The orientation programme also focused on imparting knowledge about the coordination between central and local level in budget implementation and sharing of resources at the local-level.
