The Local Bodies Consolidation Recommendation Committee has started collecting suggestions from various sectors for all round development of the local bodies.The committee, comprising Tirtha Man Shakya, Ram Kumar Pandey,Dr Om Gurung, Birendra Bahadur Deuja, Dr Guru Prasad Rajauria,Mamata Jha and Dr Durga Prasad Poudyal, has recommended reviewing the structure and the number of local bodies and providing managerial and financial autonomy to the local bodies.

According to information given by member-secretary of the committee Dr Durga Prasad Poudyal, the committee has received suggestions for making arrangements for reservation to women, indigenous peoples, Dalits and backward communities in the local bodies in order to enhance their participation in local development.The committee had held interaction with representatives of the associ-ation of District Development Committee Nepal, National Federation of the Village Development Committees (VDCs), the Rural Area Development Committee, National Academy for the Uplift of Indigenous Peoples, Nepal Indigenous Peoples and Nationalities Federation and the Monasteries Management and Development Committee.
