Madhesis are Nepalis, Constitution misinterpreted: Ex-PM Nepal

SANKHU: CPN-UML leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has said the people living in Madhes are Nepalis and there should be no doubt over their identity.

Addressing a function at Sankhu-based Bhagawati Higher Secondary School, Saturday, the former Prime Minister argued that the Constitution was misinterpreted in Madhes. He was of the opinion that there would be no problem in Madhes regarding the Constitution once the people there read it thoroughly.

He expressed his hope that the existing crisis situation due to the prolonged obstruction at the border would end soon.

Speaking at the same programme, Nepali Congress lawmaker Deepak Prasad Kuinkel sought a special reconstruction package for Sankhu area that was badly affected by the April 25 earthquake.
