Magar Students demand Siwakoti apology

KATHMANDU: Nepal Magar Students Association (NMSA) accused advocate Gopal Siwakoti 'Chintan' of defaming Urmila Pulami, the daughter of former Gurkha Army officer, Kamal Pulami.

Speaking at a press conference organised by NMSA here today, president Bhoj Bikram Budha Magar alleged lawyer Siwakoti of falsely using Pulami's name in his recently published book. Siwakoti in his newly published book, "Gurkha Andolan: Achievements and Challenges", has used Pulami's name in several places and has also explained about his extra marital relationship with her.

"He also said that he could provide some videos through his personal website as evidence of his relation with Pulami," added Budha Magar.

However, Urmila Pulami who is now in London with her family has denied whatever lawyer Siwakoti had made public.

"Advocate Siwakoti's failure to attend the meeting called by the Nepal Magar Association proves that his claims are false," he added.

NMSA has warned to protest if Shivakoti failed to apologise publicly within 72 hours. "We will gherao Siwakoti's office, padlock shops selling the book and seize all the copies of the book," Magar said. Tougher steps will be taken in the near future depending on the activities of Siwakoti, the book shops and the publishing house, he added.
