Mahasamiti costs NC Rs 2.3m

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has made it public that Rs 2.3 million was spent for the Mahasamiti meeting that was held recently. Gopal Man Shrestha, NC vice-president and coordinator of economic committee for the meeting presented the financial report at the Central Committee (CC) meeting at party headquarters in Sanepa.

Around 1,000 members from across the country had participated in the Mahasamiti meeting. NC general secretary Bimalendra Nidhi informed that the meeting was a success. Meanwhile, the CC meet that started on Thursday, is preparing to finalise the party statute after fixing some technical aspects. Earlier, the Mahasamiti meeting had revised the statute with new provisions of electing over 80 per cent members and office bearers at all levels.

The next CC meeting is scheduled for Sunday. NC will then send a copy of the revised party statute throughout the country. Nidhi said that it was being done so that all levels could hold their conventions before the national general convention in March, 2010.
