Maiti Nepal’s initiative

KATHMANDU: Maiti Nepal has launched an initiative to rescue over 500 women imprisoned in around five jails of Mumbai and New Delhi, including the Tihar Jail. The women were sent behind bars on the charge of possessing fake passports while they were heading to Gulf countries for work via India. Bishwo Khadka, director, Maiti Nepal, said they have begun the process of arranging bail for the women. “Currently, we are in the process of getting bail for 58 of them. But we will extend it when proper information is collected about the others,” he said. “A majority of the captives were underage,” he added.
