BHAKTAPUR: A man has reportedly killed his wife by attacking her with an axe in Changunarayan Municipality-7 of Bhaktapur district, on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as twenty-eight-year-old Salena Majhi.

According to the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur, Umesh Majhi of Charnadi of Bhojpur district, currently living in the house belonging to Ram Maya Karki in Kharipati, struck his wife with an axe inflicting injuries on her head while she was sleeping last night.

Critically injured Majhi was rushed to Bansbari-based Neuro Hospital where she died during the course of treatment, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Himalaya Kumar Shrestha.

Meanwhile, investigation into the case is underway and search is on for the husband of the deceased, who has absconded after the incident, police said.
