Man held with 15 kg gold from Chamati

KATHMANDU: A man in possession of around 15 kg gold was arrested while he was trying to smuggle it into Kathmandu Valley today.

The arrestee has been identified as Rabindra Bhujel (30) of Palanse in Suryabinayak Municipality of Bhaktapur district, informed DSP Santosh Tamang of Metropolitan Police Circle, Balaju.

He was arrested from Chamati of Kathmandu this morning.

According to police, Bhujel had hidden the gold in a Tata Sumo (Na 1 Ja 4964). He had imported the gold via Kyirong border point of China.

The arrestee and confiscated goods would be made public at a press conference today at the Metropolitan Police Range, Teku.

Recently, the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police had arrested three persons with 33 kilograms of undeclared precious yellow metal from Pingalasthan in Kathmandu on January 5, which questioned the security arrangements in the Tribhuvan International Airport.
