One held for trading ornaments stolen in quake aftermath

KATHMANDU: Police on Monday arrested a man who was allegedly involved in trading of jewelleries stolen from a cooperative in the aftermath of the April 25 earthquake.

Surya Bahadur Tamang (27) from Samudradevi VDC-1 of Nuwakot district, currently residing in Manamainju of Kathmandu, was nabbed by a team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division.

Police said he bought and sold jewelleries stolen from the Janamilan Cooperative, located at Samakhusi, KMC-29.

Police have already nabbed Mekalal Tamang on June 24 for his alleged involvement in the theft of Rs 700,170 cash and 43 tola gold ornaments.

Both have been handed over to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigations and actions.
